What are the benefits of a sports massage?

A sports massage supports recovery after training and competition, loosens tight muscles and improves mobility. Before exertion, it prepares the muscles for the effort ahead. Used regularly, it helps to spot overload early and prevent injuries – whether you run, cycle, play football or train at the gym.

Should I have a massage before or after a competition?

Both make sense, but with different goals. Before a competition, ideally one to two days ahead, a stimulating massage loosens the muscles without tiring them. After a competition, at the earliest the following day, a calmer and deeper massage supports recovery. I do not recommend an intense treatment directly before the start.

How often is a sports massage useful?

For recreational athletes, a sports massage every two to four weeks is usually enough, and more often during intense training phases or before important competitions. What matters is your training volume, the load and how quickly you recover. We will discuss the right rhythm together – no subscription, you book each appointment individually.

Does health insurance cover a sports massage?

Depending on your plan, supplementary insurance covers part of the cost, as SADEA is recognised by health insurers and EMR certified. Basic insurance does not pay for sports massages. It is best to ask your insurer before the first appointment what share your plan provides. You receive a reimbursement receipt after every treatment.

Does a sports massage hurt?

A sports massage is firmer than a relaxation massage and can feel intense on tight spots. However, it should never be so painful that you tense your muscles. I adjust the pressure to your feedback and to your current training load. Slight muscle soreness the following day is possible and perfectly normal.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about sports massage

Your question is not listed? Send me a short message — reply on the same working day.

Can I come for a sports massage with sore muscles?

Yes, with normal muscle soreness a gentle sports massage can support recovery. If you suspect a strain, a torn muscle fibre or a bruise, please have the injury checked by a doctor first.

What should I bring to a sports massage?

Comfortable clothing and, if you like, your current training or competition schedule. That way I can tailor the treatment precisely to your load.

Which sports is a sports massage suitable for?

All of them – from running and cycling to ball sports and strength training. The treatment focuses on the muscle groups your sport uses most.

Can I book just a leg massage?

Yes. For a leg massage covering calves, thighs and glutes, 50 minutes (CHF 150.–) is usually enough. It is ideal after runs, bike rides or long days on your feet.

How much does a sports massage cost?

50 minutes CHF 150.–, 70 minutes CHF 195.–, 90 minutes CHF 240.–. No subscriptions, no packages, reimbursement receipt for your health insurer included.
