Trimester by trimester
Weeks 1 to 12
A time of great change. Tiredness and nausea are often at the forefront.
Weeks 13 to 27
For many, the most comfortable phase. The bump grows and the back starts working harder.
Weeks 28 to 40
Weight increases, the legs feel heavy and sleep becomes more restless.
In these cases I do not give a massage, or only treat after consultation with your doctor:
Please let me know at every appointment which week of pregnancy you are in and about any changes since your last visit.
I usually offer pregnancy massage from the 13th week of pregnancy, that is, from the second trimester. In the first trimester I only treat after you have consulted your gynaecologist or midwife. Massage is possible until shortly before the birth, provided the pregnancy is progressing without complications.
You lie on a special pregnancy massage table designed for the baby bump, which takes pressure off your belly, chest and back, so you stay comfortable and safe as your bump grows. Depending on your week and how you feel, I also treat you on your side, supported by cushions. You can change position or pause at any time.
A pregnancy massage can relieve back pain, tension in the neck and shoulders, and heavy, swollen legs caused by your changing posture and the extra weight. Many women also experience it as calm time for themselves, which helps them switch off and sleep better. Treatment is also available in English.
Depending on your plan, supplementary insurance covers part of the cost, as SADEA is recognised by health insurers and EMR certified. Basic insurance does not pay. Some supplementary insurance plans also offer their own benefits during pregnancy – it is best to ask your insurer. You receive a reimbursement receipt after every treatment.

In an uncomplicated pregnancy, an adapted massage with gentle pressure and comfortable positioning is usually well tolerated. Before every treatment I ask how you are feeling and which week of pregnancy you are in, and I avoid techniques that are not suitable during pregnancy. In a high-risk pregnancy I only treat after consultation with your doctor.
